Click! Let there be light. Not merely lots of light; more importantly the right light.
High-quality environmental portrait photography depends largely on harnessing and directing light. And great portrait photography requires great light, and great command of it.
That’s in my mind what Portraits with Purpose is all about – making purposeful studio and environmental portraits that in a truthful and impactful way through a single photograph communicate something meaningful and interesting about a person.
In recent years I have largely focused on portrait photography. It’s been extremely rewarding for me and I’ve been very fortunate that my work also seems to resonate with a lot of people – both with those in front of my camera and with those who view one of my portraits for the first time, perhaps without even knowing the person in the portrait.
This positive response has been very satisfying to me, and Portraits with Purpose is a more formal way to hang a shingle above my commercial studio and environmental portrait photography services that more clearly focuses on individuals, companies, organizations and institutions that look for high quality – in my mind meaning more ambitious – photographic portraits that convey the personality, quality, competence and passion of an individual, be it for personal or professional use.
On this blog I will share tips, techniques and the occasional behind-the-scenes anecdote from studio photo shoots and environmental portrait sessions in what I hope to be a fun, educational and engaging manner. And I mean also for you, not just for me. 🙂
Thanks for coming by, and I hope you’ll stick around for the ride!
